About Us

The soul of Haley Hotel has always been rooted in exploration. Named after the famous Sea-Captain Haley, our hotel is a place for visitors looking to discover the coastal charm of California. Swim in the sea, wander the historic streets, stroll on the beach, catch a sunset. 

Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, The Haley Hotel is a short walk to the ocean and some of the city’s best restaurants, coffee shops, cocktail bars and local amusements. Our 17 rooms have been refreshed with a nautical design and our guestrooms feature a thoughtful selection of art, furniture and amenities from local artisans, who you can visit in town and learn more about here.


Who is Captain Haley?

Our hotel is named after Captain Salisbury Haley who in 1850, when California became a state, was chosen to survey the city. He became known for his crooked survey map made up of meandering streets and uneven parcels that still exist today. The reason for his crooked survey is a mystery. Some people say it’s due to weather variations, while others theorize that he purposefully redirected some of the streets to point towards Chumash shrines along the hillside in order to paying tribute to our Chumash Indian history. While the real reason remains unknown, our hats are off to the ‘Crooked Captain’ and his part in laying the foundation of our beautiful city.

  • Check-in/Check-out Policies:

    Check in time is 4:00pm, For any early check in before 4pm there is a early check in fee. Contact Haley Hotel for more info. 


    Check out time is 11:00am

    Late check-out (after 11:00 AM and before 12:00 PM) may result in a fee.


  • Property and Cancellation Policies :

    Full Charge - Full Stay - If canceled within 3 days of arrival

  • Parking Fee & policy:

    We offer parking next to the hotel at the Promenade Parking Lot. Parking fee per night, will give you in/out, overnight privilages. To purchase parking download the paybyphone app and use Lot#: 19096, We recommend selecting 24hrs/1day. If there are any question or concerns please contact the Haley Hotel.

  • Pet Fees & Policy:

    Small Pet under 35 pounds: $40 per pet per night

    Large Pet over 35 pounds: $60 per pet per night


    There is a daily pet fee for guests staying with an animal at Haley Hotel.  The pet fee amount may be changed at the discretion of Haley Hotel.  Haley Hotel will honor reservations booked at a previous price.  Haley Hotel may request presentation of quoted pet fee price, along with written confirmation of the original reservation.  Service Animals are exempt from these fees as required by law this does not include emotional support animals.  As a Haley Hotel guest you are responsible for any and all of your property including your pets. If the Haley Hotel is not made aware of pet upon check in there will be a $100 penalty fee per pet per night. However, damages ascertained as a result of any guest or animal behavior are not exempt from fees or charges.  Furthermore, It is the animal's owner's sole responsibility to "animal-proof" any areas of the room and/or property to which the animal has access. This includes thoroughly inspecting fences, gates, latches, doors and other devices (including crates) meant to contain the pet or restrict access to specific areas.  Haley Hotel does not assume responsibility and has no liability for any injuries the pet may sustain or property damage the pet may cause while in its own home/property. It is expressly understood that Haley Hotel shall not be held responsible for any damage to guest’s property, or that of others, caused by guest’s animals during the period in which they are in its care.   • Terms and Conditions:

    Reservations require a valid credit card (Visa, American Express or MasterCard), email and mobile phone number. Haley Hotel will not accept check payments. Guests are able to pay cash at the time of arrival.  A valid government issued identification is required at check-in.  Guest presenting identification for check-in must be authorized on the reservation to check-in.

    Guests must be 18 years or older to book a reservation. 


    We will do our best to honor your room and bed type preferences based on availability at the time of stay. Please note that room and bed type preferences are not a guarantee. There is a maximum of 5 rooms per person per credit card limit.


    Advance purchased (non-refundable) rates require a full deposit of room and tax at the time of booking. Deposits are non-refundable. Advance purchased rates will not be canceled or modified. These modifications include date changes and shortening or lengthening of stays.


    Hotel check-in is at 4:00 p.m. PST. Check-out is at 11:00 a.m. PST. Early check-in and late check-out may be available upon request. Additional fees may apply.


    Reservations that are NOT Advance purchased (non-refundable) rates must be canceled 72 hours prior arrival - 4:00 p.m. PST to avoid a charge of room booking and tax. (Hotel's discretion)

    A valid photo ID and credit card are required at check-in. Your method of payment will be authorized for the length of stay - nightly rates plus taxes with an additional incidental amount. The final amount of your stay will post at check-out. 


    By agreeing to these terms and conditions you consent that Haley Hotel may use the payment you have provided at the time of check-in, for the total amount of your stay plus an additional amount for incidentals.  You are liable for any and all charges posted to your room(s). You are further liable for all damages (including missing items) to the room(s) caused by you or your guests/invitees or pets during your stay. Should your plans require you to adjust your departure date, please check with the Front Desk on room availability, but note that your rate is subject to change and fees may apply.     Haley Hotel does not share customer information and credit card transactions to comply with Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards. If you would like to review, correct, update, or delete Personal Information that you have previously provided to us, you may contact us at 805-708-0266.


    Haley Hotel is a smoke-free hotel. Smoking is strictly prohibited in all guest rooms. A minimum cleaning fee of $250 will be charged for violations including but not limited to: damaged/stained linen, furniture, fixtures, electronics & more.

  • Hotel Buyout



    Thank you very much for considering the Haley Hotel for your event! We only offer Full hotel buyouts. We would love to have your group stay with us and utilize the guest amenities such as the outdoor games and firepit areas here at our boutique 17 room hotel.   • Mobile Key instructions

    Download the OpenKey app to have access to your mobile key. Once the mobile key is downloaded, please allow all prompts, location, notifications and turn bluetooth on, you well then have access to your room! remember to place the face of your phone to the black RFID circle on the door. Enjoy your stay!

COVID-19 POLICY


Due to the Pandemic we are taking certain measures to keep our crew and guest safe. We have implemented a UV light sterilization step to our day to day cleaning process and use virus-killing products in all rooms and common areas. We disinfect common areas frequently and ask guest to practice social distancing. We encourage all of our crew to stay informed and practice proper cleaning procedures we appreciate everyone’s contribution to staying healthy.
